Running a computer repair business means a whole lot more than just having the technical skills of repair, assembly and configuration. Certainly you need to be set up correctly in your workshop area and such that the customer can see you are what you say you are and in order to be efficient with the delivery of services, but just as with any business it is important to be able the other key business issues of marketing, accounting and administration.
There's an old adage that "business would be fun, if it wasn't for all these customers", but in fact I have always loved my customers and it is the administration parts of business that I've never been keen on.Outsourcing the administration aspects in fact is not that difficult, and for a reasonable cost too, so after removing that drudgery it really only leaves the marketing side of a computer repair business that is the essential difference between success and failure. And for every industry I have had a business in, there has always been an industry association or other type of meeting place where you can meet other people with the same interests can meet to swap ideas on how to be the best we can be and for new and innovative ways to finds customers, social networking and even using resources like Facebook.
A friend of mine recently started his computer repair business and we were discussing this exact point, and with Google being our friend, we started searching for such a meeting place used by other computer repair business people for that exact purpose - of talking about success methods and the marketing side of businesses.
Sure enough we did find the ideal web-site and because the members are from diverse geographic areas, none of them are directly competing for the same customers and so people were very open, helpful and willing to share their ideas that had succeeded so far for them. The link to that web-site is in my resource box if you are interested.
